THE TWIN FIN HOTEL - A BUDGET FRIENDLY BEACH HOTEL IN WAIKIKI

The Twin Fin is a new Hotel right at the beach in Waikiki. The hotel used to be Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel but is now The Twin Fin. They are focused on the history of surfing, and they are proud to welcome guests to be part of the story of Waikiki - the birthplace of modern surfing and lifestyle. The hotel has one of the best locations in Waikiki, right next to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. This hotel is among the cheaper hotel options, which is very cool because it has become one of my favorites in service, location, comfort, and food.

About the name “The Twin Fin”

The Twin Fin is a surfboard with two fins that are ideal for mellow, playful, cruisy surfing. These boards made their debut in the 1970s. Twin Fins are perfect for small to medium surf, which is exactly the kind of surf that you will find in front of their hotel. The Twin Fin also gives you 3 credits per night and you can redeem them for a variety of water sport rentals, such as paddle and surfboards, snorkeling equipment, and also beach chairs, and other beach accessories. You save a lot of money from this.

View from the room at The Twin Fin Hotel

Location:

The hotel has one of the best locations in Waikiki, located at the far end of the Waikiki strip, very close to the diamond head, at Kalakaua Avenue. The beach is right in front of the hotel, where you either take your kids or go surfing. There are also volleyball courts, a stage for live music, and shallow water for safe swimming.

The rooms:

The hotel itself is older, but the new owners have upgraded it beautifully. The bathrooms are not renovated but got new paint and accessories. They have reusable water bottles included and you can refill them at their refilling stations throughout the hotel. The beds are very comfortable, the linen feels luxurious and the design lets you feel the Hawaiian vibes. I loved it. Most of the rooms have an ocean view. The rooms also have a lanai (balcony)

The restaurants:

Tiki’s Grill & Bar is located right next to the lobby and pool area of The Twin Fin Hotel. It is a hip place with food that is prepared in an open kitchen and very good drinks. They have live contemporary Hawaiian music every night. It is a perfect place to be for sunset!

The Coconut Club: On the 21st floor, you can find the breakfast place, which was my favorite from my stay. Their breakfast is outstanding. You can choose between 3 different main dishes, and then there is a dessert/snack buffet, coffee, juices, and fruit. Breakfast is not included, but you can book your stay with included breakfast for an extra cost. I think it is worth it. It is very expensive to eat out, so if you at least include breakfast for your stay, you will save some money there.

The Coconut Club is very modern, looks brand new, and has a balcony where you can chill, and eat your breakfast in peace with an outstanding view of Diamond Head Crater and the ocean.

Wolfgang Puck Express Waikiki

I didn’t check this place out, but it is said to be very good. Grab something quick to go, this is the place. They also have outdoor seating.

Kai Coconuts:

Hawaiians usually say your visit is not complete without trying local Shave Ice and local snacks. There is a place called Kai Coconuts, which is located right next to the lobby area.

The pool:

I always give my honest opinion, even if I get places sponsored or paid. There is a reason why I go to these places, I want to check out the best places for you to go. Budget-friendly or luxury. The Twin Fin is one of the more basic hotels, also very budget-friendly. The rooms feel very luxurious and spacious, with great views. But the common areas need some more love, like the pool. It's not very private, it's right next to the open lobby, and also the Tiki’s Grill & Bar. I like that they have cabanas for rent. The pool itself is cute. It is still s great place if you like hanging out at the pool, I’m not much of a pool person, and the beach is right next by, so I would rather choose the beach.

Parking:

They do have valet parking at an extra cost. I think it is very expensive, and if you go on a budget it's going to take all your money. There is free parking on Ala way boulevard, but it is very hard to find available spots since residents without parking at their apartments usually park there. But if you are willing to pay around $50 for parking per night, it is amazing. You can text them before you get downstairs to have the car ready for you.

My honest review of The Twin Fin Hotel:

This hotel is great and has a nice price on top of it. You get so much for what you pay compared to other hotels around. Now everything is very expensive in Hawaii because of the previous pandemic and now also the inflation that is going on. The service is great, they do everything they can for you to have a good stay.

I would ask for a quiet room though when you check in and I’m sure they will assist you with this. The rooms are very nice and so clean. The view is great on the side that is facing Diamond Head. I enjoyed their breakfast, it was the highlight of the stay. The Coconut Club is so beautiful, and the food is great. It is located on the 21st floor, so you have a great view of the ocean, Diamond Head, and the Waikiki strip. The Lobby area is very simple and the pool is not very private. The hotel is close to everything. The price for parking is a bit expensive, but it is the same price all over Waikiki. You can’t get around it unless you find a free spot at Ala Way boulevard.

I highly recommend this hotel for all the reasons I have mentioned above. If you’d like to stay with them, you can book with them here.
